And I am back!
I have taken such a long break from my blog but I promise I haven’t forgotten about it, but I am adding a little crafting corner for my crafting adventures and patterns that I come up with!
Over lockdown, I really got into crocheting and it was such a good way to keep my hands busy whilst I was listening in to lectures -virtual placement isn’t quite placement, I missed it so much and am glad to be back.
One of the things I made whilst listening to lectures were these adorable scrunchies! I am absolutely in love with them, they are so easy to make, and they add colour to any outfit. Honestly, I have a tonne of these and love wearing them, especially now that I am back on the wards.

I find that these scrunchies are the best way of using leftover yarn from other projects- the grey and pink ones are from a jumper I made for a friend’s birthday, the blue are from a ribbed chevron blanket. I have loads of little left over bits and I just find that this is the best way to use them up so far!
The quadruple stitch used here gives the scrunchie the height that you want without having to do a second row
Materials:
Any leftover yarn
Elastic Hair Ties
Crochet Hook (size depending on yarn being used)
Stitch
Quadruple Crochet
Method
Tie a slipstitch onto the hook, leaving a tail of 2 inches/5cm
For the quadruple stitch, yarn over twice -so that there are 3 loops on the hook- before inserting the crochet hook through the centre of the hair tie, yarning over and pulling that loop up. There should be 4 loops on your crochet hook
Yarn over and pull that loop through the first two on the hook, there should be 3 loops left on the hook. Yarn over again, pulling this loop through 2 loops on your hook again, leaving 2 loops on the crochet hook. Yarn over a 3rd time, pulling the loop through the two left on the crochet hook.
Repeat this stitch until you cannot fit anymore on the hair tie and the yarn starts to scrunch together. I found that I could get between 70-90 stitches on the hair tie.
To finish off, yarn over, pull up a loop but keep pulling until the stitch tightens, cut off any remaining yarn and then tie this tail with the tail from the beginning. Cut off the rest of the tails so that they aren’t obvious.
