3-Ingredient Malteser Brownies

Sunday 10th February 2019

Another placement finished and I’m back to lectures tomorrow. This last placement has gone so quickly it’s been crazy to be honest. But I will be looking forward to the lie ins. I mean it has got to beat waking up at 6:30.

Life is super busy and it’s only going to get busier from now on. Therefore, quick recipes are now an absolute must, and these brownies literally come together in about 20 minutes Oh, and the recipe literally just uses 3 ingredients and is ridiculously simple. So, it’s quick, easy, simple, and pretty cheap to make.

Essentially this is the perfect student recipe.

And it’s a brownie recipe, and let’s be honest, brownies are quite literally life. Who doesn’t like brownies? No one. That’s who. If anyone says otherwise then they’re lying.

These brownies are still super fudgy like my normal brownie recipe, and they crack on top and go crispy at the edges (I’m totally team corner piece). The addition of the chocolate and Maltesers on top doesn’t strictly make it 3 ingredients but 1) they’re optional (they taste amazing without the additions) and 2) why not add more Maltesers just because.

I’ve discovered that these are incredibly addictive, and I ate like 3 in a very short space of time. They are just so good though, especially because the Maltesers on top go slightly chewy the day after you make them (if they last that long) and it is utter heaven!

Makes 8 Brownies

Ingredients:

1x340g Jar Malteser Spread

50g Plain Flour

2 Eggs

Optional:

100g Milk Chocolate

1 Pack of Maltesers

Method:

  1. Preheat the oven to 170°C and line a tin with baking paper
  2. Microwave the Malteser spread in a bowl for 30-45seconds, until it has melted.
  3. In a large bowl, add the melted Malteser spread and the 2 eggs, beating together until the eggs are fully incorporated. Fold in the flour until it forms a batter
  4. Pour the brownie batter into the tin, spreading the batter to the edges of the tin. Bake the brownies in the oven for 15-20 minutes.
  5. After taking the brownies out of the oven, allow the brownies to cool in the tin for 10 minutes. Whilst the brownies are cooling, melt the milk chocolate in the microwave, in 15 second blasts. Pour the melted chocolate over the brownies. Crush up the Maltesers and sprinkle them on top of the melted chocolate on the brownies.
  6. Cut the brownies up into 8 slices
